Barbara Prestes
/Hey there!
My name is Barbara. I believe design is about finding new paths and solutions in order to create meaningful experiences.

Let me tell a little bit about me: I was born in Curitiba, Brazil; but grew up living in different cities in the states of Paraná and São Paulo. In 2011 I chose to go to Campinas, São Paulo, to get my college degree. After one year studying advertising I found my real aspiration was being a designer, so I changed my path.

I have worked a little bit with various design disciplines: From college experiences working in industrial design; a hobby working with editorial design and zines; an internship with Intel Open Source Technology Center with both the branding and UX teams; freelance work in graphic and web design; and, currently, as part of the design team at Caiena.

Intel gave me the opportunity to work with branding projects for both internal and external clients and integrate the team that worked on open source projects for Dronecode. I had the invaluable experience of working with visual design, UI and UX alongside a team of great professionals.

As a freelancer I got the chance to work with small business and improve the way I connect with clients.

Caiena, where I currently work, has given me the opportunity to work as a product designer in projects for the public sector. I once again can work with dev team, which I believe is absolutely important to grow as a designer in tech. I also had, for the first time, the opportunity to work as a design instructor during technology transference workshops - a great growing opportunity that allowed me to better understand my skills and knowledge as a designer. At Caiena I have worked as a designer in Weleto (a platform aimed at schools and educators) and The Public Administration Observatory for the City of Boa Vista.

In the last few years I have been learning more and more about front-end web development. This portfolio is a project in itself, but also a selection of the projects I have worked on for the last three years. I hope you enjoy it!

If you have any design problems, drop me a line at barbaraprestes@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you!
